So far so good

Initially I got a grant from school to spend the entire summer interning in Sydney. But soon after I got home, yeah right, my large bed, mum's cooking and daddy's car were all too tempting given the notion of living in a crappy apartment in Sydney, taking the metro to work, and knowing nobody. Instead I spent the first few weeks vacationing around Australia with my family and now having an amazing time interning for The Canberra Times and doing a research fellowship for eBio.

TRAVELLING

Thredbo
First we took a weekend trip to Thredbo, the skiing region here, and where Australia's tallest mountain Mt. Kosciuszko is located. Parents didn't exactly grow up skiing or snowboarding so we opted for tobogganing- so much fun. We also took the lift up 2000m and took in the beautiful view of the village below.

Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef:

The next week we flew to Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef. AMAZING. Let's see, we fed kangaroos, cuddled koalas, threw boomerangs, went snorkeling in the world's most beautiful reef, danced with Aborigines, hovered over the Cairns Rain forest and definitely appreciated the relatively warm weather of the Northern coast.

Note the extreme contrast of weather in these two places. That's Australian winter for you.
